SECUREA (Sponges for Endoscopic Surgery)

A new product enabling the operator to gently and accurately maneuver and reposition obstacles during endoscopic surgery

SECUREA is a polyurethane sponge that can be used for safe exclusion of obstacles, organ protection, and absorption during endoscopic procedures. The product name is derived from the words “secure” and “area,” which are both essential features of space securing during minimally invasive procedures. SECUREA removes the need to use retractors therefore minimizing potential organ damage when inserting and removing gauzes from the intraperitoneal. Using SECUREA makes endoscopic surgical procedures more efficient and safer.

Flat type now available!

SECUREA is now softer and easier to use. This is especially invaluable for procedures in which the pancreas needs to be repositioned during laparoscopic gastrectomy.

Examples of Use for SECUREA

Flexibility

SECUREA can be used in conjunction with a trocar of 10mm or more, allowing gentle repositioning of obstacles and space securing.

Absorption and removal of fluid

Form retention

Space can be safely secured by inserting this product between organs.

Low adhesion

SECUREA has less adhesion to organs compared to gauze, enabling hemostatic materials and anti-adhesion materials to be applied easily.

Heat resistance

SECUREA can be used in conjunction with electrosurgical knives and ultrasonic scalpels, reducing the risk of collateral damage during surgery.

Precautions & Contraindications

Grasping

DO NOT pull hard on the sponge part. Hold SECUREA by both of the strings when inserting and removing it from the intraperitoneal.

Trocar

Please check compatibility before using SECUREA in conjunction with a trocar. When inserting SECUREA in conjunction with a trocar, ensure to grasp SECUREA by the two strings with forceps.
When inserting SECUREA in conjunction with a trocar, in the event of heavy friction or abrasion, stop immediately and begin the insertion again from the start.
When removing SECUREA in conjunction with a trocar, ensure to grasp the product by the two strings with forceps, slowly.
When removing SECUREA in conjunction with a trocar, in the event of heavy friction or abrasion, do not force removal. Ensure to remove the product in an appropriate way.

Reuse

This is a disposable product. DO NOT re-use.

Precautions for Use

SECUREA will not stop bleeding. Use SECUREA in place of the material used in astriction.
